In partnership with Elemento, a jewelry school in Paris, PARCOURS BIJOUX is offering two three-day workshops each, providing an introduction to Japanese techniques with Master Kageyama.
We are pleased to invite Sensei (Master) Kimiaki Kageyama, a renowned Japanese master goldsmith, to lead an introduction to traditional Japanese techniques, with a focus on copper alloys and the decorative inlay technique.
Over the course of three days, Sensei Kageyama will explain the various copper alloys (shibuichi) used in Japan and the inlay technique used to decorate intricate pieces, whether jewelry or other objects.
This is a wonderful opportunity to meet Mr. Kageyama and, through his approach and experience, immerse yourself in a facet of Japanese culture and metalwork.
Artists
The work of Kimiaki Kageyama, a master Japanese goldsmith, draws inspiration from the techniques used to craft sword fittings and armor, particularly the use of alloys and urushi lacquer.
His work is distinguished by a particular focus on materials and their transformation, where technical heritage meets an interest in plant forms.
A leading figure in jewelry education in Japan, he was among the first metalworking instructors at the Hiko Mizuno School of Jewelry. He has participated in the Schmuck trade show (Munich) since 1992.
A recipient of numerous awards, he also leads workshops and gives lectures internationally.
