View from Venus Mountain
If you climb it, what will you see?
Six female jewellery artists will tell you something about this. The jewellery project is a collaboration between three jewellery artists from the city of Gothenburg affiliated with the craft cooperative and gallery Lerverk and three jewellers are from the Austrian jewellery gallery and studio kunst.wirt.schaft in Graz. Coming together with different life experiences and with a strong artistic ambition to express the mature female gaze has given the inspiration and the empowerment to this project. This group exhibition will also give something of a time perspective to the ancient goddess cult. With the deconstruction of Venus from Willendorf some of what is known, unknown and thought to be known about her and her sisters will be revealed. The Venus Mountain could be an anatomical term, the home of a goddess or a place on a remote planet. It is however you look at it a strong mental place.
Artists
Andrea Zahlbruckner-Jaufer is the heart and soul of wonderful kunst.wirt.schaft, the studio and gallery founded by her in 2004. The gallery has an ambitious exhibition program with both national and international jewellery artists.
Andrea has a background as a set designer in theatre, film and television. Since 1995 she has devoted herself to the art of jewellery both as a maker and as an enabler through the platform of kunst.wirt.schaft.
In her work she is inspired by the human nature and minds, how we interact and are able to give joy to each other.
After a long and successful career as a freelance designer for brands like Hérmes-Paris, Villeroy&Boch, Ciro, Escada and Augarten Wien Claudia Stulhofer-Mayr decided to follow her heart and devote herself to the art of jewellery as a maker herself. She took her masterclass for jewellery and metalwork in 2022 in the Ortweinschule in Graz and has since then been a member of kunst.wirt.schaft
Her artistic work often evolves around a certain story and background that she immerses herself in.
Chiara Longari is originally from Italy and has a background in art and in set design. She is since 2020 a member of kunst.wirt.schaft in Graz.
Chiara creates jewellery as reflections of moments, emotions, and relationships. Each piece grows from intuition and from the dialogue between art, nature, and material. She loves experimentation, imperfection, and the infinite possibilities of the creative process.
Helle Rasmussen-Theliander is a member of the craft cooperative Lerverk in Gothenburg. She works and lives in an old farm in rural Dalsland with Siamese cats and numerous different breeds of birds. She, has her own foundry for silver jewellery, is skillful in many techniques and she has a long and solid experience of teaching silversmithing
“My field is the gasps in human communication. Over time, in tradition and hierarchies.”
Lena Birgitsdotter lives and works in Stenungsund at the Swedish Westcoast. Her work spans different fields from everyday jewellery to unique objects and from wearables to sculpture. The expression often comes from a fascination for simple forms, abstraction and minimalism where she experiences a freedom both as creator and observer. Lenas jewellery is often mobile in some way. She works both alone and in collaborative projects.
Lena Lindahl lives and works on the small island of Styrsö outside of Gothenburg. Within her interest in the art expressions of Anthropocene she has studied ecological art theory and biodiversity. Contemporary jewellery with a story behind it inspires her in her practice as a jewellery artist and as a curator.
