Estuaire
Catherine Granche, Kathy Ouellette, Catherine Sheedy
A vast expanse of water that crosses the territory and punctuates both their daily lives and their creativity, the St. Lawrence River inspires and unites the approach of these three Québec artists. A metaphor for their formal research, the estuary is the place where fresh and salt water mingle, between river and sea. It is the call of the open sea, where their artistic practices and studio explorations meet and take shape around ceramics and metals, as well as collected, shaped, and repurposed elements. Their attraction to the tides, drifting ice, and the artifacts washed up on along the shores are fragments of memory expressed in the form of jewellery.
