The topic of this lecture arose from an exhibition project, *Couleur Matière*, bringing together Canadian artists working with enamel, as part of *Parcours Bijoux*. An ancient, demanding, and sometimes unpredictable technique, it reminded me of something fundamental: certain things cannot be rushed.
From this reflection emerged a broader theme, one that extends far beyond enamel and its whims: that of slowness in creation. A slowness that can be technical—inherent in the gesture, the material, the process—but which is often also conceptual. Before touching the material, there is that silent time when an idea seeks its form, when the project exists only as a vague intuition.
In a world dominated by speed, mass production, and immediacy, taking one’s time in the creative process seems almost… subversive, outdated. Learning to embrace this invisible time without the feeling of losing it.
