This collection is the result of a unique collaboration between a gold- and silversmith and an ophthalmologist, both designers. At the intersection of art and science, they explore how the complexity of the eye can be translated into contemporary jewelry.
Through dialogue and experimentation, ophthalmological concepts are transformed into sculptural jewelry pieces that combine precision, craftsmanship, and artistic expression. Some works draw inspiration from anatomical structures, while others explore abstract notions such as focus, motion, and perception. Each jewel tells a story about how we see, observe, or are seen.
This project creates a space where the science of vision becomes a source of creative expression and where design gives it tangible form, expanding the dialogue between art and perception.
Artists
Gabri Schumacher began her career in 1985 as a gold- and silversmith. Besides jewelry, she creates silverware such as tableware sets. Her work is driven by a passion for both thinking and creating, where design and craftsmanship come together. Gabri’s style is strongly influenced by her desire for symmetry and architectural forms. She strives for the perfect balance between aesthetics and technique. Her dedication has earned her numerous awards and contributions to museum collections. She enjoys challenges, especially designs that initially seem impossible.
